“Golden Hour” for Brickwalk Gallery

In early March 2022, I had the honor of having my painting selected for the “Crane Dance” show at the Brickwalk Gallery in Kearney. I was just excited to apply, but I was shocked when my piece was chosen to be the featured artwork for the show!

I consider this one of my best (and one of my favorite) paintings! It shows my skills in both watercolor and gouache, and it represents Nebraska’s natural beauty that inspires a lot of my personal artwork.

Crane Dance” marks the first time I ever applied for my work to be shown in a gallery; by some stroke of luck, not only was a painting of mine accepted, but chosen as the featured artwork! I’m not ashamed to say I cried tears of happiness when I found out…after being burnt out on migraines, school assignments, and so many failures in my shop, I had been questioning whether I had any real skill, or if I would ever take another step towards success as an artist. Finally, this show gave me the encouragement I needed–and it had been so fun too! I met so many great local artists, and my work was even displayed alongside some of my professors’. My painting sold on the first night…I couldn’t have been happier!

Can you tell I’m excited?

Some friends and I seeing the show before it was taken down.

Erin’s stuff. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Really quick–my good friend Erin Tichota ALSO got into her first gallery show with “Crane Dance”…but they didn’t let her into the reception because it was a 21+ show! Crazy stuff. Here’s a pic I took with her painting to send to her for laughs. You can find Erin’s stuff here!

Here this summer, I’ll be making “Golden Hour” into prints, so keep an eye on my shop!

Finally, more shows and info featuring fantastic local artists can be found right here, at the Brickwalk Gallery’s website. Thanks again for having me, guys!
